Science - Water Investigations!

4th Grade investigates how many drops of water fit on the flat surface of a penny. What happens when soap is mixed with the water? What happens when we use salt water? Interesting questions!
HOMEWORK CHALLENGE: In your own words describe what surface tension is...can you draw a picture of water that shows surface tension?

Happy Monday - Science Homework Challenge

Hi 4th Grade:

Today we started our Science Unit on Water. In today's investigation you tested water and how it reacts on different surfaces. Remember, you used the eye dropper to drop water on plain paper, wax paper, aluminum foil and a paper towel. The water did different things on these surfaces.

Here's your HOMEWORK CHALLENGE:

1. Tell me what the word absorb means. (Write this answer as a complete sentence.)
2. Tell me which item absorbed the water best. And tell me why you think this was so.

Looking forward to your responses!

See you in the morning.

More practice with Metric Measurements

Hi 4th Grade:

Today we talked about what part of a meter a centimeter would be. Remember there are 100 centimeters in one meter so if you have 1 centimeter out of 100 that would be written as 1/100 in the fraction form and 0.01 in the decimal form.

Here's the HOMEWORK CHALLANGE:

How do you write 50 centimeters out of 100 centimeters in the fraction form?
How do you write 50 centimeters out of 100 centimeters in the decimal form?

How would you write 10 centimeters out of 100 centimeters in the fraction form?
How would you write 10 centimeters out of 100 centimeters in the decimal form?

How many millimeters are there in one centimeter?
How many millimeters in are there in one meter?

GOOD LUCK!

See you all inthe morning

Mrs. Kuzio

P.S. Congratulations to Naseer! He was the only student who turned in correct answers to last night's challenge!

Metric Measurements

Hi 4th Grade and Families:

Today we learned a little about metric measurements in our math class. We talked about meter sticks, centimeters, decimeters and millimeters.

Here's the HOMEWORK CHALLENGE:

Take a piece of paper and write the answers to these questions in complete sentences!

How many centimeters are in 1 meter?

How many decimeters are in 1 meter?

How many centimeters are in 1 decimeter?

How many millimeters are in 1 centimenter?

How many millimeters are in 1 meter?

If you write the correct answer to all 5 questions and write your name on the paper you can earn a homework pass! Good Luck!

See you all in the morning.
