January WOW! Event!

What fun we had today at the January WOW! Event!

This is a monthly event that students are able to attend if they earn it through excellent behavior and super choices!

Way to go 4K!

The WOW! Event changes each month. Today's event was a GAME DAY and many of the students brought in games from home. There were also games in the classroom to play. I was sooo proud of my 4th Grade class and how well they did at the event today!! Keep up the excellent work!

4th Graders tutor 1st Graders

During the Second Marking Period some of the 4th
Grade Students in 4K have had the opportunity to tutor
First Grade Students from Ms. Williams First Grade class.

On Band and Orchestra weeks the 4th Grade students pick-up
the First Graders in Ms. Williams class and bring them up to 4th Grade. Ms. Williams sends along a box of wonderful skill activities that the 4th Graders work on with the First Graders. It's always a productive time!

WAY TO GO 1st and 4th Grade! Keep up the GREAT work!

A New Student!

Mrs. Kuzio and Mrs. Geary's 4th Grade is pleased to WELCOME Aiden Magargle to our classroom. Aiden comes from Milton and has settled in well over the past two days.

Wednesday in 4th Grade

Since coming back to school after the winter holiday break we have been very busy in 4th Grade.

Last week we worked our way through the first 3 of 6 Tobacco Lessons. In these lessons the students learn the real dangers of smoking and using smokeless tobacco. A letter was sent home to families giving further details of this Unit. Next week we will work on the last 3 lessons in this Unit and then the students will begin a persuasive essay and poster on why one SHOULDN'T smoke.

In Social Studies we have begun the PA Topics Research Project. This is a project that will take about 8 weeks for the students to complete. Each student will choose one Pennsylvania topic that they will research in-depth. At the end of the 8 weeks each student will give a presentation on their special PA Topic. Stay tuned for more information on this project!

In our EveryDay Math program we have completed all the report card assessments for the 2nd 9 weeks and today we started Unit 6; the students we're introduced to the first method we teach for tackling long division - it is called the Multiples Method for Dividing Numbers. Tomorrow the Partial Quotient Method will be introduced.

The end of the 2nd marking period is this Friday, January 22. As of today, 19 out of 21 students in our class had made or surpassed their AR goal! Way to READ 4th Grade!!

Welcome Back!

I can't believe a whole week has gone by since we came back from the Winter Holiday Break!

All the students in 4th Grade are working diligently as we practice daily for the PSSAs. This week the students will take the third round of 4 Sights for this school year.

4th Grade also continues daily practice of their multiplication and division facts. The following students have mastered their facts:

Anna, Amira, Zane, Cassie and Trevon
Congratulations!
4th Grade Families should also be aware of the Tobacco Unit we started this week. This is a 6 Lesson Unit and we will be discussing the dangers of using tobacco in any form. At the end of the Unit each student will write a persuasive essay detailing why one shouldn't use tobacco.
As always, we are busy in 4th Grade!
Stay warm and stay healthy!
