Wednesday in 4th Grade

Since coming back to school after the winter holiday break we have been very busy in 4th Grade.

Last week we worked our way through the first 3 of 6 Tobacco Lessons. In these lessons the students learn the real dangers of smoking and using smokeless tobacco. A letter was sent home to families giving further details of this Unit. Next week we will work on the last 3 lessons in this Unit and then the students will begin a persuasive essay and poster on why one SHOULDN'T smoke.

In Social Studies we have begun the PA Topics Research Project. This is a project that will take about 8 weeks for the students to complete. Each student will choose one Pennsylvania topic that they will research in-depth. At the end of the 8 weeks each student will give a presentation on their special PA Topic. Stay tuned for more information on this project!

In our EveryDay Math program we have completed all the report card assessments for the 2nd 9 weeks and today we started Unit 6; the students we're introduced to the first method we teach for tackling long division - it is called the Multiples Method for Dividing Numbers. Tomorrow the Partial Quotient Method will be introduced.

The end of the 2nd marking period is this Friday, January 22. As of today, 19 out of 21 students in our class had made or surpassed their AR goal! Way to READ 4th Grade!!
